Badu Gili
Healing Spirit
Badu Gili: Healing Spirit is an animated projection celebrating First Nations art and storytelling, illuminating the Sydney Opera House’s Eastern Bennelong sails.
The animation weaves together the intricate shellwork and prints of late Bidjigal Elder Esme Timbery and her children Marilyn Russell and Steven Russell, alongside the vibrant drawings of Joseca Mokahesi Yanomami of the Yanomami people in the Amazon.
It explores themes of cultural and familial connection, rituals, and the metaphysical relationships between natural and spiritual worlds.
It was a huge honour to work as part of the team at VANDAL, who worked closely with the curatorial team and artists to realise their works as an immersive projection experience.
